Misha

Misha was our first dog.  We were in Berlin, Germany, and wanted to get a Yorkie.  The city itself was rather high-cost .... even in the '70s, and Yorkies were going for an outrageous price.  Fortunately, one of the "perks" of being in an occupied city, like Berlin, was the fact that U.S. forces could take advantage of many of the benefits afforded to the British and French soldiers stationed there.  The British had a special low cost flight service for their soldiers and family members between Berlin and London.  So, we hopped a flight for a stay in London.  While there, we found a very nice breeder and picked out a puppy.  All in all ..... the entire trip, including the price of the pup, was less than buying a Yorkie in Berlin!  Unfortunately, we couldn't take the pup with us, so she came a week later via a separate flight.  Misha turned out to be a great dog .... more of my wife's companion than mine.  As you can see in the picture, she loved to play with money. Once on a trip home to Pennsylvania, she found a $10 bill while on a walk.  Another time, in Germany, she found a 20 Mark bill.

While in San Angelo, Texas, in the mid-80s, Misha was diagnosed with cancer.  We had a super vet, and close friend, who performed two operations on her between 1985 and 1987.  She was able to live four more quality years before passing away in San Angelo at the age of 16.  Misha was a wonderful dog and world traveller ... having been born in London and lived in Berlin, Germany; Wuerzburg, Germany; Augsburg, Germany; Ayer, MA; Fayetteville, NC; and San Angelo, TX.

Misha's final resting place.
